My earliest and prehaps fondest memories of Croke park invovle 2 farmers comparing players on opposing sides of GAA games to the inwards of sheep and what comes out of the orifices in question - the bits they don't cover in Health and Hygiene classes - my fathers total embarassement - and refussal to explain - and the total excitment of my fathers team winning - there is no doubt Croke Park holds a magic of its own - and you are so close to the action - not like Subi where there is this masssive dead space around an oversized oval - and the tiers are at an angle of maybe 12 degrees - Croke Park the angle up was standing room only and maybe 25 degrees - you could see the lad sweating on the pitch
I would love to see a game of rugby there - the atmosphere etc would be electric - there is a particular stand there called Hill 16 (cause the Irish freedom fighters committed some atrocity - just like Iraq today - and the English retaliated by going in on an All Ireland Final day and shooting 16 people dead in the crowd - not 80 years ago) the idea of an English game been played there is just so bizarre - its brillant - never thought it possible in my lifetime

Burgs I've been happy to see that we have managed to get a few posts actually talking about rugby on this site during the week, you're certainly a well informed fan...if you're not going to get over to the UK this time then I sure hope you are able to meet up with me in Perth at the start of the 2008 season for a good old face to face chat.
It will be my pleasure FT![]()
