Perth Glory women play there X
Dorrien is the home of Perth FC. Pretty old, no real facilities. Perth Glory have played a couple of pre-season games there. Their women play at the Macedonia ground now - where Glory men will be for most of the year. I think local NRL have played finals at Dorrien. I've been there a couple of times. Awful
It's barely big enough for soccer; any kick for goal runs a serious risk of losing balls into either the local apartments or onto Lawley Street.
Kicks for touch will probably be OK, because we sucked at them last year and missed half the time. But I wouldn't want to park in the car park to the east, just in case.
Perth Italia's old ground, very well hidden away for a sports ground. No place for anything really as far as stands go. I'd rather they took a look at the old Velodrome, Litis Stadium, Floreat Athena's ground. Or Frank Drago Reserve in Bayswater. The latter especially has plenty of room for temporary stands. Corporate facilities would be a problem at both though
The thing I do like about Bayswater, is that there is plenty of room to have temp seats on three sides. Might have to remove the odd fence or sign, but it can be done. I've also long felt that Litis would have been good for the NRC.
All the super games are confirmed at HBF. Not too sure about the friendly games. In regards to the WACA, probably cause its a cricket ground. Tony Lewis is adamant (by the sounds of the radio interview) on staging games at a rectangle venue in order to better attract fans, corporates etc...
The WACA has been used by one of the WAFL teams this year (East Freo? Possibly Very East Freo!) and the WACA groundstaff were reported to be pretty upset at how the WAFL games chewed up the turf. I can't think that they'd be happy for scrums to pack down in the middle of the wicket.
