Silver lining for Force's speedy signing

Western Force recruit Semisi Masirewa thought his Super Rugby dream was over when he shattered his ankle - now he could be be taking on ex-Manawatu Turbos teammates at his former home ground next season.

Masirewa, 23, who has joined the Force on a two-year overseas player development contract from the Turbos, expected the worst when he had a screw inserted in a broken ankle three games from the end of New Zealand’s National Provincial Championship.

The Hurricanes, Chiefs and Highlanders were interested in signing the Fijian-born speedster before the Force stepped in.
