an age old debate - who wins rugby matches, Forwards or Backs?
Chicken or the egg really.
Despite the fact that I played in the backline, the forwards do the hard work, we just take the glory.
So forwards for me.
For my mind it's a symbiotic relationship - backs rely on the forwards for ball and forwards rely on the backs for points
A great forward pack with ordinary backs (ie bokke) wont beat a team that has reasonable forwards and great backs
From their performance over the last couple of weeks, I wouldn't be calling the Boks a 'great forward pack'.
Looks like a resounding win for us (ex)-forwards...although I must admit that I did play a couple of seasons at centre when I was younger and used that experience to regularly find myself bolstering the back line from the back row!! he he!!
I find it strange that Forwards go on about this. Backs can play two forms, Rugby and Sevens. If Forwards are so important why hasn't there been a game set up just for Forwards (wouldn't that be a spectacle).
So Backs can play with or without Forwards, but Forwards can't play without Backs

5 a side Sumo?
tug-of-war ?
JediKnight if I'm not mistaken I think the boks beat Scotland comfortably twice this season, so your not in a great posistion to judge the Boks. At this present point in time Moses i do agree with you regards the Boks backline; but the presence of Jean de Villiers really does make a huge difference. The true Springbok backline should be,
9. Fourie :)
10. Not a great deal here proberbly Butch James/ Myer Bosman...
12. Jean De Villiers:)
13. Oliver
15. Percy:)
14. Paulse:)
11. Habana:)
A great backline in my opinion, except at fly half
(Habana is also injured now and may be expected to miss the next macth)
Regards the backline vs forwards thing, it's a team game, one without the other is nothing:)
wow... well said shaun!
i was sure you would of picked backs given your signature...
Thanks:)
But my signature says "every forwards dream is to become a back" not "backs win games"
my bad ;)
Indeed (gosh i love that word):)
Stop sitting on the fence Shaunmarn!!!!!!!!!
It's the truth! one without the other can't possibly win!
What is your verdict flamethrower? Oh might and powerful non fence sitter:)
Oh Hell Yeah. Just picture the crowds rushing for that :iconrofl: :iconrofl:Quote:
