Hawaii "Road" Trip anyone?
-
We’re heading there in January next year.
I’ll conduct my own Innforcers tour feasibility study!
You’re welcome 🍻

Wasn't there a plan for a Hawaii team in Rapid Rugby.

Possibly expansion speculation than actual locked in plan?

The "let's throw darts at a map and put a side there" method of running a competition.

The available stadia might be an issue; there's some university athletics stadia which have space for a rugby field in the middle, but not much in the way of capacity or facilities (they make Hindmarsh look good) or there's Aloha Stadium, with a 50,000 capacity. Having been at Suncorp and SFS with 10,000 in the crowd (or AAMI with the Innforcer crew adding a significant %'age of the attendance!) you just get no atmosphere.

Aloha Stadium is closed to events and expected to be demolished this year for a proposed 35,000 repayment on the same site.
I went there for a game when I visited Hawaii in 2017 and it was a bit of a dump and the atmosphere sucked when I was there.

Fair enough. Having a 50,000 seat stadium seems a bit redundant seeing as they've no professional sports teams, and the college bowl and NFL Pro Bowl games have moved back to the mainland.

Not to mention funding. Might also be an idea to get Pacifika up to speed before any more brainstorming on expansions.

Not to mention the horrible Timezone (to Perth at least).
Granted it's no worse than the South African games but nobody watched those games and they won't add much in terms of TV revenue. Super Rugby isn't the AFL and can't eat constant multi million dollar loses.
Hawaii should have a side in MLR.
