Super 14 Crowds
Toady's West liftout gives some figures on last weeks matches
Bulls V Stormers - 46,000 in Pertoria
Hurricanes V Cheetahs - 16,000 in Wellington
Blues V Sharks - 16,000 in Auckland
Chiefs V Force - 13,000 at Hamilton
Highlanders V Crusaders - 11,000 at Queenstown
Tahs V Reds - 22,000 in Sydney
Almost as many at the Bulls match as all the comnined Kiwi matches :S
-
That's a pretty amazing crowd for Super 14, regardless of who is playing!
If anyone knows the Force v Hurricanes crowd figure I can give you the Season and History averages for the Force.
-
Disappointed with the Festival of Hate numbers. Us GTT people had a blast entertaining ourselves. I wonder how many came to watch us as we were highly amusing, just ask me how highly amusing and will say heaps highly amusing.
-
How amusing is Heaps highly amusing chook???
-
More amusing then your run of the mill garden variety amusing, so its pretty good really.
-
The Hurricanes game was over 28,000...forget the exact crowd figure.
-
yea 28000.
the nz teams get less then i thought but im sure there will be alot more then that for the hurricanes vs crusaders.
-
the NZ grounds have smaller capacities than Pretoria though... can't see them fitting 46k in many grounds

Righto, using 28k (hopefully someone has the actual at some stage, in the excitment of the match the Fox boys forgt to announce it) the following are the Force Home averages so far:
2006: 28,424
2007: 27,730
History: 28,109
An accurate Canes figure and the Blues match should help to lift the '07 figure however have to remember that '06 has the 37k inaugural match to boost its average.
Highest ever: Brumbies '06- 37,037
Second highest: Highlanders '07- 30,704
Lowest ever: Bulls '06-23,392
Lowest 2007: Lions- 25,523
Really shows up how important that 1 point loss to the Highlanders may have been in this regard, going from second highest ever to third lowest ever in 22 days.
Also, breaking it down further to Opposition Nationality:
v Australia: 29,733
v New Zealand: 29,543
v South Africa: 25,456
However the Australian figure is inflated with inaugural match of 37,037 as the average against the Reds and Waratahs is just over 26k.
This will average out over the years I guess.
The lowest New Zealand match being the estimated 28k for the Hurricanes.
-
From what I've heard, in years that the 'Tahs remember how to pass and catch...
average 25k for Saffa opposition
average 30k for Kiwi opposition
average 35k for Aussie opposition
then we pull out 22k for the Reds last week (37k last year)

Brumbies was always going to be the highest being the firstest .. while it might help our average it should be noted as a bit of a one off!!
