Triple Crown Joy for Irish Wheelchair Rugby Team

The four home nations recently converged in Bath, England to compete in the annual Wheelchair Rugby Triple Crown Championships. The event was in the format of a tournament held over two days in which each country played each other once to play for a position in the final.

Ireland beat Scotland and Wales on the Saturday and then England on the Sunday morning. This put the men in green through to the final where they met Scotland for the second time.

The final was an exciting affair with Ireland showing great skill and composure throughout the match to triumph by 10 points, 39-29.

2007 has been a very successful year for Ireland Wheelchair rugby. The team competed in the European Championships in June, the World Cup in September and now rounding the year off with the Triple Crown title.

These have got to be the bravest guys in the sport - would love to see this - how do they do a try or a conversion - never mind a lineout or scrum - the mind boggles

well done fellas.
