Police Investigation Into French Rugby
POLICE INVESTIGATION INTO FRENCH RUGBY
Rugbyenews
The biggest scandal ever in French rugby appears to be brewing.
Sixteen current and former administrators of Top 14 and Pro D2 clubs from all over France have been taken in for questioning by the Service Régional de Police Judiciaire - French judicial police.
The investigation pertains to possibly fraudulent deals with a certain agent in the recruitment of players, which allegedly occurred during the 2005-6 season.
Planet Rugby reports the police are now leading a national investigation and more than half the clubs in French professional rugby are involved – notably Montpellier, Toulon, Biarritz, Bayonne, Aurillac and Narbonne – although this is not a complete list.
