yeah which is why the rectangle codes want the new stadium to have retractable seating
No, even a redeveloped Subi.
Looking at the stadia short-listed, half have 27,000 or fewer seats, but the travelling time for teams playing in Perth means that we're unlikely to get any games at MES.
Then, if the World Cup does come to Australia, FFA can say that tournaments which stay in the eastern states are successful, and Perth shouldn't get short-listed for the World Cup either.
Call me paranoid if you like, but even my short experience in Perth tells me that any chance the eastern states have to diss Perth and get extra games for their own stadia will be taken with both hands.
Difficult job to do, really. Given that 90% of the population is in the east, and most of the top stadia, are distributed between Melbourne and Brisbane (which is 2 hours flight?), why would teams and officials want to fly to Adelaide, yet alone Perth?
Even assuming that FFA's take would be the same for 27,000 seats sold at MES or Canberra, the expenses in travel of players equipment, etc, would reduce their profit. Much easier to dedicate resources to the many and let the few, hardy Sandgroupers sink or swim on their own.
(Can we start an 'Independence for Western Australia' campaign - we contribute more to the national economy than we receive, so we'll be financially independent.)
If we weren't apart of Australia we would not have got a Super 14 Rugby side and AFL would then be an International sport. I would enjoy the bonfire of everyone burning their Wallabies jerseys as well ;)
The the force could be the national team...
Still be better off.
Half full of kiwi's anyway, take them on as the national team...
Just off to wash my mouth out with petrol...
