Force stature grows but road test next
Western Force start their tortuous Super Rugby tour from hell today, travelling 22,400km for four games in four weeks.
Players will be sore, battered and bruised after a stunning defensive effort that set the foundation for a 16-14 home victory that stunned seven-times champions Canterbury Crusaders on Saturday night.
Coach Michael Foley will name his tour squad today after medical checks, but there is concern over prop Pek Cowan, second row Sam Wykes, flanker Ben McCalman and back Junior Rasolea.
The Force will take seven flights and three bus rides on two trips to New Zealand to face the Hurricanes in Wellington on Friday night and the Chiefs in Pukekohe on May 10.
In between, they have a game in Canberra on April 27 and a home match at nib Stadium against the Reds on May 4.
It is the most arduous trip a Super side has taken.
