I know of one such bar-appropriately named the Men's Bar- at the Singapore Cricket Club. Palmyra have been going there annually for the last 25 years to take part in their club 7's tournament.
The S.C.C. take it so seriously as a men only domain that if any woman shows her face in the bar there is an immediate and constant booing by the members present which doesn't stop until she is voluntarily or forcibly removed by the ever vigilant male bar staff.
This is a club for extremely wealthy people with a long waiting list and annual membership fees of many thousands of dollars. The only reason the likes of me and the Pally boys get a look in is as guests for the few days of the tournament.
One year in the mid 80'S a few of the lads brought their wives and girlfriends on tour. While the boys were carousing in the Men's Bar the girls had to wait outside in one of the several other bars, which went down like a lead balloon with the girls. The more they waited (and more they drank) the angrier they got.
Eventually they decided to storm the Men's Bar en masse and stage a protest against sexism. They forced their way in past the aged, diminutive Chinese doorman, fronted the bar and demanded to be served. When they were refused, booed and ordered to leave, one of them removed her top, exposing her breasts, and staged a sit down protest.
In the end, after much tumult and hullaballoo they were all unceremoniously ejected.
The Palmyra management was hauled over the coals by the S.C.C.'s powers that be for failing to exercise proper control over their women and we were threatened with expulsion from the tournament.
I suppose the moral of the story is never take women on tour.
I think if she was that keen she should have been allowed to stay :iconrofl:Quote:
