I have heard that the old west stand is heritage listed as well. I would think that two stands could be built around the old one! Even build over the old one with a top stand? Change rooms could then be built as well. There are definately options available without demolishing the old stand. It isn't a great stand but I am one for looking after heritage.

Me too. As long as the building has a "character" that is typical of it's era. Even if it's not very aesthetic. A couple of examples are the old stands at North Sydney Oval and the SCG.
The western stand is a plain, rectangular brick construction devoid of character or imagination. The only things worthy of preservation, IMO, are the old turnstile gates - truly typical of their era and pleasing to the eye - and the Moreton Bay Figs.

Absolute agreement. I'm told moves are underway to get the listing lifted
That would be a win for upgrading!
Also keeping old gates is a good idea, along with figs!
Is there anything out there as a proposal for the west stand or would it all be waiting for the lifting of the listing?
