Brisbane's Suncorp stadium on fire
BRISBANE'S Suncorp stadium is on fire after rising flood waters short circuited, fire-fighters believe, a generator box.
Smoke is streaming out of a second story vent where it is believed a generator lurks behind.
With Brisbane River having broken its banks flood waters have begun flooding through Brisbane city and right now the water level is about 1-1.2m high on the ground floor of Suncorp stadium.
As yet the playing surface inside is yet to be covered in water.
However, streets surrounding the stadium have flooded well over 1m and close to 2m high.

While reading that the Brisbane Roar/Wellington Phoenix game will be postponed this was also in the article

The Faingaa twins, Saia and Anthony, have announced they will donate their first match payments from the Super Rugby season to the flood cause and have urged players throughout Australia to do the same.
Looks as though one corner of Suncorp is still dry, but not sure what that says about the levelness of the surface...?
So the flood level is now tipped to fall just lower then the 1974 level, still devastating though, a lot of the damage has already been done
Good column in the Australian on the Toowoomba flood ... http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news...-1225985855443
Highlights that nature works on a different timescale to people, with no-one under 40 likely to remember the last Brisbane floods or remember the lessons.
Last footage I saw of Suncorp the water was up to the top of the boundary fence and covering the front row of seats.
top of the players tunnel just now
But the XXXX factory :(
hope the pig & whistle in the mall isn't flooded!
