Sounds like a sauce talking there.
Has it been confirmed which of our marquees would be getting the bullet then?
Yes, from what I have heard and read I would say that Peter Grant is almost a definite. We have released 2 fly halfs, Grant was released from his contract and replaced by Zack Holmes, he has family in Perth etc etc ...
From that I would also draw the conclusion that Steenkamp will be released.
I am not sure that Grant would be any better than Sias and will play a different game plan but a change is needed.
Quade would be a great signing, not just for on field talent but would also generate a bit more interest from the casual fan and probably lead to a better brand of rugby. I cannot see the signing happening though.
I agree Buddha and I would guess the only thing stopping the confirmation of PG at this stage, would be to crossing of all bridges regarding QC first. I'm sure most would agree (albeit not absolutely convinced or happy about) that QC would be a better option.
Personally I believe that QC is definitely the better option and is most certainly worth a shot considering our position and the most importantly the way that we played our rugby this year.
While we're chasing Quade Cooper can we also add Ewen McKenzie to the shopping list and relegate Foley to forwards coach?
Hear Hear no better coach in World rugby for hiding glaring inadequacies in the short term.
We need to make sure that we
a only sign him for two years
b sign somebody who can develop the rest of the team under him to replace the holes with some decent talent
c not get tempted to renew Ewen's contract when the wins come (which they will, but it'll all be smoke and mirrors)
Would be good to see Ewen back and contributing to Australian rugby
Sias Ebersohn has already signed for the Cheetahs, he will be playing in this year's Currie Cup competition.
He's grabbed one of the spots left by Joe Pietersen/Elgar Watts moving on. Best of luck to him
I Dont think Peter Grant is the solution at all. His style of play is too similar to that of Sias' and he is what... 5yrs older?
1)We need an up & comer. Someone like Jimmy Dalgleish for example.
2) Another option is to go for someone who has potential given the right coaching. Burto has my vote for that.
3) And the third option is for a world class established Fly such as Giteau or QC. I have a feeling QC will be replacing Gits in France and Gits has been talking to the Force. Why would QC sign for a club with two classy 5/8ths already unless the club knew it was losing one of them?
Saw a tweet from Giteau yesterday that said "I hate goodbyes". It couldn't be, could it?????!!!!
Gits has been selected for Wallabies RC squad.
Drew is on the same flight, but I think they have just become attached at the hip ;)
I knew it was too good to be true! :-((
