If you've been to or seen the crowds in recent years for the nib NRL games, you'll know it'll be packed. Probably mostly from locals, but if WA types can travel to Melbourne for the AFL GFs etc, no reason Eastern States types can't come here.

Colin Barnett has said "it was several million dollars" but it was out of $19 million allocated to events in the state budget handed down in April. Probably not as much as the $20 million paid by the State Government to attract Chelsea FC to Perth to take on the Perth Glory in 2018.
State of Origin game 2 played in Melbourne attracted 20,000 visitors to Melbourne. I'm that was enough to contrubute a substantial amount to the local economy.
I guarentee that both events will sell out and both events will bring cash to WA.
There will be plenty of internal tourism as well. Lots of Kiwi/NSW/Qld folks in the NW, Kal and down south. It will be a winner. As will this years Test.
I hope you guys are right. NSW to Melb and QLD to Melb is a whole different prospect to NSW to Perth and QLD to Perth. I remain very sceptical but hope to be proven very wrong.
Only regret is we won't see the current Qld outfit in action. I'm a Blue thru and thru. But those are a once in a few generations team. They will be like the 50-60's Dragons team. Their record will likely never be bettered.
