Ultimately I/we should be judging the coach on where he can take the team in the future. Rather than just pointing out past mistakes.
Mitchells time has been somewhat of a rollercoaster something that he must be in part responsible for. It's impossible to know if anyone else could have done any better under the same circumstances. It could have been worse with someone else too.
But he should not be placed above question and criticism.

I didnt think he was part of the decision
If not Mitch I reckon (not endorsing or dissing it, just the way I think it'll go) Richard Graham will take over from Mitch, the reins will be passed over sometime between 2011 and 2012 depending on the team's performances
