Exactly my point.
oops - it's in the public domain now... :D
One thing I would think could be usefully raised:
There are all these proposed upgrades bandied about, and they all seem to cost conveniently round numbers like $25M, $50M and $100M. Has RWA or anyone else established the actual requirements of Foxtel, the ARU, players, corporates and fans and got a proper assessment done as to the necessary upgrades and associated costs for MES?
I'll jot that down......I'd actually like to run my eye over the proposal from the TOV, but I'm not really that important so I'm stuck with secondhand smoke!
I do have to reiterate my stance though. MES at 22,500 seats sold out every match makes a far better case for an upgrade than Subiaco at 45,000 seats attracting dwindling crowds....even if the smallest crowd in Subiaco will sell out MES at it's current capacity.
That's just my opinion, and Burgs...I know exactly what you'll reply, that the government won't fund another upgrade for 20-25 years...I agree, but will the Corporate fat-cats....a sold out stadium makes maximum rofits, that's surely going to make a tempting argument for a Kerry Stokes or some other bloke to drop a couple mill into a hat!
sigh - i remember Parker said give me the land and I'll build it myself...
I think it was land and more pokie licences, but if it were just more pokies for the Cas, who gives a stuff???
I no longer have an opinion, it's safer that way.
Don't be like that Burgs. Even though we disagree, I still respect your opinion. As a matter of fact it only differes in a small way from my own. Yes I agree that 22,500 will not provide enough seating to cater for every patron that wishes to watch some games.....Yes I agree that once the government upgrade MES they'll probably sit on their hands for a long time. Yes I agree that a patch up to MES is building for the present not building for the future. The only point we seem to differ on is that I think patching up MES is the only option which has legs and if we don't pull the trigger now we'll be left without gunpowder.
Does that pretty much cover it?
smote fight...smote smote smote
smoted
oi....King Hit smote..
:)
GIGS20 hope you enjoy your day at RugbyWa - am dying to hear the official line on the stadium and whether or not they believe we are way of the mark or just a nuisance - or maybe have some hints on what we should be doing to be more effective - also agree with Burgs that 22500 is not enough but boy if we sell it out constantly the cost effectiveness of an upgrade of 5000 extra seats will look feasible.
Someone told me that some of the players actually admitted that Subi was not their favourite ground either - hope that isn't true
I could see that TQ1, let's face it the kicking's been pretty generally crap at Subi, it might have something to do with the lack of sidelines to sight off or something like that....It might even have to do with the lack of any reasonable training hours using our home ground.
I guess that's one more thing that a MES option would give us...with a (pretty much) guaranteed sellout in a 22,500 seat stadium, we'd go from being second class citizens to priority tenant virtually overnight!
