kinda the point i was trying to make...
we not gonna miss him much the rest of the boys stood their ground well
This signing is an example of two things that really piss me off with Super Rugby.
1) Players signing with other Super Rugby teams during the season. I understand when a player is going to Europe they kinda have to sign during our season. But it is ridiculous they can sign with another Australian team in week 3. Seriously, how can you trust him to put in his best effort, especially when it comes time to play against the Rebels, when he is already committed to jumping ship next season.
2) Teams poaching really good players to have them sit on the bench. This probably affects the Force more than the others. But it's stupid when someone like Cross goes to play for the Tahs, knowing full well he is behind Carter and Horne, when he would pretty much get a guaranteed start with the Force. This hurts both the quality of the Australian Super Rugby teams but also the Wallabies as potential Wallabies are not getting as much game time as they should.
it's not poaching if they player wants to go.
i'd rather have a player leave if they are not 100% committed to the force
They've got Matt "Twig Legs" Brandon for four weeks and during the match the Coms also mentioned a Shute Shield player (missed his name) getting here (I think) Tuesday as cover for the outside backs. Somebody watching a replay may be able to fill the gaps here.
Give the cullet a couple of games, we might just be saying Mitch who?
I hope big Willie gets fit soon, we need a boost on the inside, more than the outside backs.
He's sure to be the first choice 10, after one or two from the bench with JOC at 12. But I've grown to like what we are getting from Gene Fairbanks. Too bad he's so small. He's a gutsy player but will not make the starting side when they are all on deck. Has he ever played in the 10 shirt?
He doesn't look like a 10s bootlace really, got a serviceable attacking game, but really does get his slot by not being a hole in the defense.
If he was a real option at 10 I think he would have been tried by now, and Matt Brandon would still be in qld!
Cullet was good at 13
he's wasted on the wing
Mafi was sensational on the wing. No problems
Mitch is a winged "he-never-was"
Buy his ticket to melbourne and wish him bon voyage. Don't forget your thermals and c0ckwarmer. You'd better get on the NZ Green Lip muscle extract as well. That elbow is going to ache in Melbourne's cold damp weather. His luxated elbow and subsequent arthritis will be a lifelong reminder of his days in the west
Not so quick Shasta, you need to look at the permutations, with a fit Ripia and O'connor, and cummins playing well in 13 we've easily got any position in the back line covered by three guys (scrum half aside of course, it'd be insane not to name a specialist scrummie) I wouldn't rush to put a utility back on the bench, since O'Connor would be playing 12 and able to cover 10, 11, 12, 14, 15 cummins can cover 11, 13, 14, 15 mafi has played 13 before at the Brumbies and I'd reckon Smith could cover 13 as well. As for the back three, wingers are interchangeable and Shep could play anywhere in the back three, probably increasing his try tally on the wings, rather than fullback. I'd probably lean towards a specialist 13 on the bench, rather than a specialist 12, but if Fairbanks has enough quality to keep out his opponents, I wouldn't argue against it too hard.
Chukka can cover 9 and 10 + 12,13,15 in an emergancy too.
For me MOTM was Faribanks ... iam impressed with his guts to tackle those blues the way he did was impressive.... i hope he continues and doesnt get smashed up...those bloddy yarpies will be eyeing him up. gRAHAM will have a tough choice to dismantle that backline as it is... another few games and they will be as good as any other one the S15
