Late October to late February
Thanks! I do check in on occasion because this is still the best news source for rugby around, but I'm struggling to find the time to do much else. I've been so absent that someone from TWF tried to convince me to join the site a few games back...felt a bit sheepish about that :P
Just remember though, that Shota Horie will be playing for both the Melbourne Rebels and his Japanese club for the foreseeable future, so maybe there is the option of that possibility happening for Cummins too. I would like to see the ARU open up negotiations with Japanese rugby for more of our players to do this in the off-season, if it means more players will remain in Australian rugby by having that financial boost from spells in Japan.
The Force should have a testimonial game for him before he goes.. Invitational, all proceeds to his family. Fill NIB I say!
Great Idea Gerry. Perhaps a Perth Spirit match.
Exactly!
It's because the ARU is so crap that the HB is having to ply his trade overseas! Can't see them doing anything SNOB :-(
Here's an idea - Cummins gets to stay because Folau has offered to pay half the money he needs for medical bills............NOT!!!
And the ARU decides to pitch in for one of its own by pledging the $millions they had set aside for "code hopper" Karmichael Hunt's overinflated salary! *rolls eyes*
Where do you dream this stuff up? The ARU are NOT putting money into Karmichael Hunt. Yes the Reds are trying to secure him but it is far from a done deal. He wants to remain in South East Queensland, but the money on offer from the Reds would be significantly south of his current AFL pay packet.
Best of luck to Nick Cummins. A great footballer and a good bloke. Putting his family's security first is a no brainer, particularly given their difficult personal circumstances.
Shows the quality of the guy - forgoing his personal goals to do what he does best & use that to support his family...few sportsman as humble and noble as that, complete shame that he couldnt stay in the same country as his family as well. Best of luck kiddo
Family first nick, no one can argue that, but it would be interesting to know the $$$ value of his new contract, knowing the force and the ARU can't match it between them, he's a fantastic marketing player for both of them on and off the field, farewell badge you'll be missed around these parts...........
