Funny Jono. Fans comfort is not the issue. The rain will favour the reds.
Was'nt it pissing down in the home game against the Bulls last year?
I may be wrong, I can't remember last week
I'm with Dog.....whilst rain is the great leveller, that adage assumes that you have a reasonable forward unit, the Reds don't, they haven't for years, choosing to focus their recruitment and retention on flashy backs with drinking problems and hair appointments. Their front row wouldn't match our second string, their locks are nominal (not that ours are much better) and there are galaxies between the back rows. There are only two names that come to my mind as being troublesome and those are Slipper and Thompson, the Former has just returned from an 80 minute proctology session at the hands of the Brumbies and the latter is a) returning from a break b) new to the team c) old (OK, maybe in Adam Thompson's case that doesn't count, but it's still true)
long and short, if it were dry and there was a chance that flashy, throw-it-around footy was going to get you somewhere I would have said they might surprise us, in the rain the game pretty much comes down to desire and guts.....both indicators show us in the lead.
Unfortunately it's ours to lose.
Agree with Gigs and MI5 Dog.
The Reds probably have the flashier backs but as was proven on Friday night they have a forward pack that is softer than an ice cream that has been sitting in the sun on a summers day.
Don't disagree fully but i don't think this is going to be as easy as it would seem. Our boys did us proud but openly admitted that they were more bruised and battered than normal. Our pack should dominate and I'll back them to do the job. Also we have lost our only FB and if wet both sides will use the high ball.
Morahan has played plenty at full-back; we have Brache, Scott and Burton for the wings, or could see either of the two new boys (Nikoro & Yamada) on the wing - not sure if they have any experience at FB (Nikoro's bio says he has).
ETA: We have Paddy Dellit, too! He looked quite good in the trials - was his absence last season due to injury, or does Foley not trust him for some reason?
And that is my point Jono. The mud may level things. Only Chris and Scott flew over so full back must be Zach, Mozza or Marcel IMO.
Let's say we do have a good game against the Reds, and we are far ahead of them with twenty minutes left; it would be nice to see some of the Spirit boys and Yamada get a run.
I'm not counting my chickens though, I think the Reds should be a different prospect next week.
in brissy now...i think. cant see anything except pea soup
