Whew, you had me worried there Ali. Like most of Growden's articles, I can only say I agree with bits. I certainly disagree with him on the kicks...they did not turn down several kicks before half-time, they turned down several opportunities to take one kick. If someone offers you $20 and you refuse it three times, that doesn't mean you've lost $60. And they took the kick in the end but the kicker missed it.
I disagreed even more over the drop kick - when was the last time one of those actually worked? It's a one in ten proposition at the best of times, and the pitch was sodden and torn up to hell after 80 minutes of rugby. For mine it is the last ditch option of the hopeless and clueless, and when they inevitably missed Growden would instead be bitching about how they lacked patience and should have trusted themselves to get the try or draw the penalty.
Really?
The only thing I agree with in that article is that the Wallabies should have won and weren't good enough to.
The decision to take the scrum after the Crockett binning was something I was howling for, in the end, after working hard and winning the penalty back (as well as making OUR choice of who sat down for 10) the kicker wasn't good enough.
The drop goal was firmly entrenched in their minds in the final minute, they simply didnt win enou ad line footy to kick it (foley doesn't kick them from fifty)
The only other thing I'd like to say is that Growden's player awards must be scored like golf....have a close look at the list!
You know what I meant Ex, we made a decision about who sat down, because we were qute comfortably beating their front row. We took the scrum to send either a flanker or an outside back off, because that would work in our favour......that's as much control as you can reasonably expect.
Sacre-Bleu!?
