Worrying signs for force as Cheika fails to call
July 16, 2012, 6:39 am
The Western Force will be on the brink of disaster if Michael Cheika turns down their offer to coach the club for the next two years.
They had hoped to hear from the Heineken Cup-winning coach before the players arrived home last night from their two-game tour of New Zealand. They disperse for a post-season break tomorrow.
There were worrying signs yesterday as the club had still not heard from Cheika.
Cheika, who coached Leinster to the European title in 2009, is known to be his own man and unlikely to sway from any contract demands.
If he refuses the deal, 15 weeks of trying to find the right replacement for Richard Graham, who quit for the Queensland Reds, would go out the window.
Other candidates would need to consider whether they would be willing to accept an offer having already been overlooked.
