I'm not seeing much Rugby at the moment, but the main thing those stats (and article) don't explore is effectiveness.
White may be kicking more, but where are the kicks going and what is the result etc.
Genia is a no brainer selection for mine, at least for this season and with the caveat that I haven't seen all matches.
Yeah Ralto, last week was one that I did watch and he was at his best I thought.
It think this question is still easy to answer. With a salary cap of 4.1 million 600k is too much to spend on any player.....he could be the incredible hulk, with the speed of the flash and handling skills of the Harlem globetrotters and it'd be too much.
Certainly, I'm not an advocate for the 600k, my comment was that the stats reflect the past, not the performance he put in last week. Management could use it in an incentive pool for the coach and agree on a realistic target for development and success with whatever players are there in 2013. I dunno, maybe that's crazy talk, but with the efforts so far all I can think of is Western Reds.
at least he doesn't talk about a brand...
Genia is a good team man with outstanding talents.
He's the type of player that helps you recruit other talent and more importantly hold onto the talent you have ie Pocock et al.
Giteau was a show pony. JOC had no loyalty either.
If you import, their loyalties will also be elsewhere no matter how fluffy, warm and fuzzy their rhetoric upon signature.
Time to grow our own
QLD handled it badly.
I have a lot of admiration for Genia. He is a genuine talent and very grounded.
I guess Genia must have some integrity for Pocock to be close to him. I am sure Pocock would not be interested in befriending shallow, self-interested, disingenuous people!
I think maybe Genia felt backed into a corner - most likley by his managers - and agreed terms under pressure using his head but not his heart. Hence the very quick backflip after the QRU media release. I genuinely wish him all the best for the future :-)
I have no issue with Genia staying where his heart is, especially for less money, these are admirable traits in a person.
Can't say the same about the circus behind the decision maker, the sooner these negotiations are removed from the regular season the better.
Could not agree more Burgs :-))
when have we seen any force 1/2 back score a try like that one of Will Genia's yesterday, no wonder Queensland pulled the loyalty and mateship card on him but
will they keep Higginbotham ( who is in red hot form at present) and Cooper ( who will be when he stops running the water bottles)
I guess there's no way they can hang on to all of them if they're all wanting to command that sort of salary. Talk this morning of Higgers maybe going to the Rebels.
By the way, did you guys notice our illustrious local snoozepaper today printed a big photo of Genia making that 60m run for the tryline right above an article about the Force being "thumped in South Africa". Numbskulls!! Sports Ed is prob an AFL diehard!!
Sanchez earned a good chunk of his $400k on Sunday.
