Property tycoon's Perth Glory takeover bid collapses

Perth Glory's desire to find a new owner has hit a major hurdle with Melbourne property tycoon's Robert Brij's deal terminated.

According to WAtoday, advisory firm KordaMentha cancelled the sale agreement to the Primeland Group-led consortium.

The masthead is reporting preconditions weren't met as the Glory looks to move on from Tony Sage's previous ownership.

Sage's full ownership of the club began in 2009 after he was originally a part-owner.

The Perth businessman's tenure then ended in July with KordaMentha appointed in its advisory role.

An A-Leagues spokesperson told the masthead that KordaMentha was still engaging with other parties interested in buying the club.

Sage's ownership came to an end after the APL hit his company Okewood with a breach notice for being unable to maintain payments. Reports also revealed the A-Leagues had been assisting in the payment of players and staff.

Those payments were made via a secured loan with a receiver's report lodged with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission showing a figure of $4.4 million.

Perth has been searching for a new owner for 11 weeks.

The Glory currently sits eighth on the A-League Men ladder.
