well no Tuqiri hasnt come clean, he declined to comment, the article gives no reference to a source or qoute
This is why modern rugby is screwed. No wonder the current generation of players are a parade of prancing princesses with all the PC crap they have to put up with.
Pretty bizarre statement Rick
"During a painstaking investigation, The Sunday Telegraph discovered O'Neill chose not to go public with details of the incident - despite being accused of a cover-up - out of his respect for the woman and her family.
Even most of O'Neill's senior staff at the ARU have been kept in the dark because of his concerns over the woman being identified and embarrassed."
It would seem The Australian Editor and Journo didn't share the same concerns...
I still don't back sacking him over seeing company to his room... A fine at worst...
Straw that broke the camel's back, I think. Maybe Lote had had a final warning before this.
Be an interesting interview of Mrs Tuqiri...
At the end of the day these are only the issues that Lote has been caught for, undoubtedly he has gotten away with much more.
Repeated infractions are not good in a young team like the Wallabies where Lote was supposed to be a senior member in the leadership group. How is the ARU supposed to punish Quade and Joc for a food fight when Lote is next door shagging some 20yr old whilst his wife is home looking after the kids, she wasnt supposed to be there in the first place.
As if not endagering one's marriage wasn't reason enough to say no to this girl, knowing perfectly well his contract was on it's last legs (aforementioned repeated infringments) really should have set off alarm bells.
Either the man was consumed with the arrogant belief that he really was the ARUs golden child and O'Neill was just bluffing, or he should consider wearing a stackhat every time he walks out the door just in case he can't think something else through.
Cya Lote- dont let the door hit you on the ass on the way out.
Even if Lote wants to go shagging (whilst in an ARU funded hotel) before a test match (for which he is paid handsomely to play in) when he should be preparing for said match - what about his room buddy? He was on final notice, he was a senior player who should be setting an example, he was paid well, and he had the rest of the team and his his flat mate to take into consideration.
Additionally - I'm sure a married man doesn't go out and pick up a 20 year old and take her back to his room whilst sober and thinking straight - where was his brain at? Certainly not dealing with the job at hand... Sorry Lote - you were on work time. Go shagging when you're not on the job...
Just feel sorry for his wife and kids as they are the ones who are most effected by this!
