Which would you say was the All Blacks worst loss, apart from their 2007 one...
I'd have to go the 1999 semi-final loss to france, wat was the half time score in that one?
I'd have to say 99 as well.. They had it in the bag, but didn't count on the frogs getting on the plonk at half time.
in '99 they were in front at half-time and still in front with about 15 mins to go - they let it get away.
Against the Boks, just that lucky drop-goal.
'99 against france for me...
On reflection I possibly would have gone for France, but initially went for the 5th as it was a dead cert win for them pre match according to virtually anyone outside of the Wallaby Squad, a mere formality before dispatching the Dad's Army pretenders and rightfully ruling the known universe.
There is also an interesting pattern there, they have lost twice to the Springboks, twice to the Wallabies but only once to the French.
What odds the Frogs beat them at home for the sake of symmetry?
I reckon it has to be the last one, 03. The expecation was enormous!
Depend how you define worst - the one that hurt them the most was against France, but their poorest performance was the 3rdv4th play-off (they just so obviously didn't want to be there).
Agreed Andy, but as for worst performance where they actually gave a damn, france in '99 was pretty terrible...
I don't know, I've always felt both '99 against France and '03 were the result of not being able to put the game away by half time (opinions naturally vary as to why). I reckon I'd have to go 4 as their "worst".
Burgs - could you confirm location of the '99 semi-final defeat v France? I thought it was at Twickenham (both semi-finals being played there with the final at the new Millenium Stadium in Cardiff). If that's the case, then the results of this poll will be null & void!!! (Although I still voted for the '99 semi-final v France!!!!)
The one against the French hands down!!! The other ones are bad loses but against teams that have good reps and are always come with a real game.
Taken all info from Ruck & Maul, will check other sources later on.
I recall from the recent Foxtel series on the RWC that the game was at Twickenham. Also, from memory, I can't recall a semi-final being played at Murrayfield in 1999......I'm sure I would've been there if there had been.Quote:
