Meanwhile, SANZAR is expected to ratify five of the eight new experimental laws for next year's Super 14 series at a meeting in Sydney this week. It is understood SANZAR has agreed:
- to bring in the five-metre offside rule at the scrum;
- stop passing into the 22 for a kick-out on the full;
- enforce an offside line at the tackle across the field;
- reduce the number of penalty offences;
- rigidly apply the point of entry at the ruck and maul.
- The contentious hands in the ruck and numbers in the lineout laws will not be trialled.
"It will encourage quicker play," Brumbies coach Laurie Fisher said.
"In the ARC (Australian Rugby Championship), the main point of difference was the quick tap game, which really got the game going.
"Instead of kicking for penalty goal or for touch, you'd take a quick tap and off you'd go. It would have an impact on the game at the Super 14 level, too."
Fisher also indicated Wallabies captain Stirling Mortlock, who will miss the first eight weeks of the Super 14 with a knee injury, will not lead the Brumbies in what is likely to be his last year in Australia.
"It is time for us to look to move forward," Fisher said.
