POLICE have charged a man with manslaughter over a fatal crash which killed a father in Byford last week, just moments after a suspected road rage incident.
Police believe two men in separate vehicles were involved in an incident shortly before 2pm yesterday.
One of the vehicles, a Great Wall ute, then drove off and shortly after it allegedly smashed into another car, a Nissan X-Trail SUV, that was travelling in the opposite direction along the South Western Highway in Byford.
The driver of the Nissan X-Trail, 51-year-old father-of-four Mark Noormets, was killed in the crash.
The 35-year-old Belmont man in the ute was airlifted to Royal Perth Hospital and was charged with one count of manslaughter by police yesterday.
A bedside court hearing will be held for him today.

My Mum lives in Byford, I am visiting her today.
I stopped at the crash site and added a Force flag to the stack of bouquets there.
I said a brief blessing and thanked Normie for his contribution to the TWF site (and all his praises of my inane posts, he had seemed to appreciate my sense of humour.)
I noticed there was also a Rabbitohs member keyring there - oh well.
"Very sad to hear of the passing of Normie who I met at @thewholeforce awards night. Thoughts are with his family and all his friends at TWF."

Nothing online that I can see. Will require someone to read the actual paper.
Not in today's announcements - I'll look again tomorrow
Just looked at yesterday's and today's Wests also - nada. Nothing online at West or Perthnow either.
