I tend to agree with him, I don't think the standard is where it should be. I've heard plenty of people utter words about ref's loosing control of games in recent times - the last force game at subi and some of the international games I've watched the past couple of years.

Example - The spear tackle penalty last week which was picked up some 2 minutes later by the touch line ref. That happened right in front of the ref who was looking at him some 5 meters away.

You're not allowed to criticise ref's publically yet there doesn't seem to be any accountability privately which is why it ends up in the public arena. You'll hear the same frustrations from AFL coaches during the home and away season I'll guarentee!!

I don't actually agree bringing comments out in to the public but I can understand why they do it. And I disagree with comments from Umpiring associations saying they don't get many complaints from teams - mainly because if you do complain you're in trouble!

Complaints are made, whether public or privately, due to frustrations over inconsistency.
