That is excellent that people can watch the RWC without having to get low rent Optus TV for six weeks on a device that doesn’t buffer:
I thought this was due to the fact no one else was interested in bidding. Optus expressed interest in it and was rightfully condemned after their disgraceful FIFA display. But I swear 9 and 7 both stated they had no interest in the product.
You would think so but RWCL have sold rights for the tournament to subscription channels with low uptake. Particularly in Ireland and New Zealand where there will be high interest.
Poor audience coverage is one of the reasons why the World League is blowing up in their face. Six Nations and the AIs are covered by terrestrial to a wider audience. Gabby Logan and Sonja McLaughlin who work for the BBC have quoted 9 million audience figures to Brett Gosper on Twitter. This was in response to Gosper’s comments about market research that was pushing for the World League. The girls’ arguments are that lose the BBC/ITV rights for the Six Nations than the game will go the way of Cricket. This is without mentioning the massive ratings in France. The Women’s RWC got one million viewers for individual matches there and that is consistent for the Six Nations.
Gosper must have been hanging out with uncle Cam and Anthony French as he got hammered in response.
