    John Smit silince detractors

    John Smit – 9/10

Most of the focus was on the Bok captain before the Test and was clearly targeted by the All Blacks. However, it didn’t work as he claimed his first victory on Kiwi soil in an international to go along with the Tri-Nations title. Conceded the first six points against the Boks due to belligerent referee Nigel Owens for some interesting calls, but from there on silenced all of his detractors. Not that he would have thought about it before the match, but gained some revenge for Brad Thorn’s spike tackle last year in Wellington when he put in a monstrous hit to much appreciation from from his team-mates. His scrum effort on the hour-mark underneath the poles when the Blacks were coming back into the game was another act of greatness

Isn't there a quote or something about the victors creating the history?
Fact remains that Smit is Captain first and Tighthead seventh.

Yeah, I think it's "History is written by the victors"; often attributed to W Churchill,
But in this case it was probably Victor Matfield...

How tender was John Smit when walking up to collect the trophies... Ouch, it was the walk of a broken man.... His was a charitable gentleman's winner’s speech after the match... Apparently they prefer loosing to the All Blacks in NZ than playing and being a chance in Australia… They can small the Wallabies on the rise… It must have really irritated them loosing last week in Brisbane…

I like the guy and hope to see more of him in the future...

Facts? you just made that up…. I think you’ll find he was hobbling as he was approaching the stage… furthermore He was lying all around the field in the second half looking for a nurse…

Impossible. Victor doesn't know how to write.

I was actually surprised the scrum stayed up so much.
The AB's are notorious for packing low and the Boks always end up arse over end because of it.. looks like it was a much more even tussle up front this week compared to the kiwis SA tour shenanigans... Looking forward to us monstering the Ferns next week!
