RugbyWA and The WARL Set To Merge.
In a brave attempt to de-thrown AFL as the number one sport in Western Australia, the WARL (Western Australian Rugby League) and RugbyWA are set to merge.
"There are so many players crossing codes these days, that merging the governing bodies seems like a logical step within a small rugby market such as Western Australia"
"The NSW teams have been doing it for years."
"The ELV's have really paved the way in homogenising the 2 codes, we're really just taking it to the next level"
With both the Western Force and WA Reds under-performing last season, a combined "Super League" squad which fields both a Union and a League team could be just what the doctor ordered.
"We see enormous benefit to Rugby and League, not only in growing our player stocks, but in reducing financial overheads and also being able to attract the best coaches and management"
"More money, better trainers, better facilities, better rugby - we see it as a great step forward and one that will reap a great return for our respective codes and our fans"
"We hope to one day develop a hybrid game and expand on what the ELV's have introduced. Current future laws under examination include doing away with the offside law. Many players, in particular those from New Zealand, don't understand this law anyway."
