It has been suggested to me that following the success of the naming the new grandstand Sharpe End campaign, TWF should put some clout behind a campaign to get Hodgo officially named as club captain and signed for at least two years preferably three for continuity - no more of this one year wonder crappola like Pocock.
Matt Hodgson is without a doubt the best person for he job. He is a club stalwart, and one of our best ever players winning the POTY twice! He has the strength of character and genuine inherent leadership ability to gel the nascent team new coaches and and relaunched playing structures. He has the respect of players and supporters alike, from the Force and elsewhere. James Horwill hates him and takes cheap cowardly shots whenever he can - which says it all really.
So what about it sea of blue. Lets let the EWF know who WE want as our captain. Matt Hodgson!!

Wasn't he already named as captain?
"12 Years aSupporter" starring the #SeaOfBlue
Not permanently
Believe it was just for pre-season
he was, but it seemed to be labelled as "interim" and not for 2013 season.
If they have actually labelled him the real captain then great.

Seriously. Do you really think they would take it off him now?
No. But I would like them to announce it formally, and sign him up for another couple of seasons beyond 2013 so we don't get another Pocock fiasco. He is not an unknown commodity, sign him long term!

Hodgo deserves it hands down!
Even though he's from the Eastern states he talks up WA & has made the state his home.... fantastic endorsement for those Easteners who may be sceptical about coming here.
He is highly articulate in his viewpoints through his journalism. After the pieces he put out about EWF needing concessions & Sharpies captaincy my respect for him grew exponentially.
He's a blood and guts leader, all done through example. I'd follow him over the hill!
Great game, Fucken battled right through to the 80!
I have followed the force since inception admittedly from the UK. What I believe needs to happen to truly back up this re generation re branding re launch use what ever PR spin you want is action and the best action the organisation can take is by installing a strong and loyal leader than everyone from the programme seller to the tea lady will buy into. Matt Hogson has to be installed as captain and signed to a long term deal. If we truly want this club to be the best in this country and one of the best in the Super 15 it all starts at the top and strong leadership on the field. Reward someone who has given blood sweat and tears to the cause. The captaincy should mean everything to them and to Matt Hogson it would you know it makes sense!
If ever I'seen a lay down misere this is it. Hodgo for skipper.
Just do it!

As much as I believe IMHO Mat is the best man for the job I also realise my opinion counts for naught and that selecting a captain to lead the team should be a team/management decision. The players, team management and unfortunately PR department are responsible for selecting the best man for the job. As longs as all those people agree who that is I will support him 100% as a loyal Force supporter.
Generally speaking you aren’t learning much if your lips are moving!!!
And if they know anything about leadership, loyalty and team dynamics, Hodgo is a shoe-in. An import and foundation player who has become a local and a Force man to his boot straps.
I agree with Sandgroper - as much as I really want Hodgo to get the gig, it is not our decision. I am very happy to lobby hard for the Sharpie Stand and that is just the sort of thing where the members and supporters should be listened to. But to me, the captaincy is different, it is sacrosanct, I want the coaching staff and players to commit 100% to the captain's appointment.
I love all the sentiment here. IMO Hoddgo is the man, but as has been said before who ever it is will have my full support because who ever he is he is going to take us to the Play offs at least.
I hope it is Hodgo but the coach will make that decision not the committee for a change.
May the FORCE be with you!
I believe less is more, that "crowd passion" should be reserved for the big moments in Club culture, not seasonal team decisions. If we become a baying mob then we will end up as white noise.
"Bloody oath we did!"
