The ACT Brumbies would refuse to release Matt Toomua or Christian Lealiifano if the Western Force again came knocking to help solve its flyhalf injury crisis.
The Force is reeling after losing its No1 pivot Andre Pretorius to a season-ending hamstring injury and his back-up Mark Bartholomeusz (neck) for at least the next month.
The ARU has granted the Force permission to sign another specialist flyhalf to help fill the void.
In May last year, when the Perth club was struggling to find a replacement for Matt Giteau, who had defected to Canberra, it called the Brumbies to ask for a release for Toomua or Lealiifano.
The Brumbies declined, and the Force eventually signed Pretorius.
But with the former South African now sidelined for the year, the Force is again in desperate need of a No10.
Brumbies chief executive Andrew Fagan understood the Force's dilemma but was in no rush to start being charitable to the rival club.
''Would the Tahs release Dean Mumm if we had injuries to our second row stock? Of course not,'' he said.
