Irishman to ref cup final
From correspondents in Paris
October 09, 2007
IRISH referee Alain Rolland will take charge of the Rugby World Cup final at the Stade de France on October 20, the organising committee said today.
Rolland handled the quarter-final between England and Australia last Saturday.
South Africa's Jonathan Kaplan will take care of the first semi-final between France and England on Saturday at the same venue with Steve Walsh, of New Zealand, responsible for the second semi-final on Sunday between the Springboks and Argentina.
Kiwi Paul Honiss will officiate at the third place play-off at the Parc des Princes in Paris on October 19.

"Remember lads, rugby is a team game; all 14 of you make sure you pass the ball to Giteau."

Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.
I don't think I'll even bother looking up the score on that game.
Well, good luck to France, anyway!Originally Posted by The Lone Hydrangea

BBC radio commentators just revealed one gem about Kaplan... apparently he plays favourites - if you're 'polite' and 'apologise' for early infringements he then gives you the benefit of the doubt later.![]()
S'pose with refs like him it's worth remembering rugby's a gentleman's game...!
(Oh dear though - Chabal on at 25min - France must be desperate!!!)
