The 2009 Western Australian Schools representative squad has been announced for the Division II Australian Schools Championships in Geelong later this month.
A 23-strong squad and four reserves have been named in Coach Dwayne Grace’s touring party for the championships, which kick off on June 27 at Geelong Grammar School in Victoria.
The annual tournament pits the cream of WA schoolboys against interstate rivals from Victoria, the Northern Territory, Tasmania and South Australia, as well as the Lloyd McDermott development team which brings together some of the nation’s top indigenous talent.
The West Australians will start favourites for the championships alongside hosts Victoria, who will be out to defend their title after defeating WA in last year’s final.
The WA side will be hoping to avenge last year’s final defeat to reclaim the Charles Blunt Trophy, which they last held aloft in 2007.

Be There. Be Heard. Be The Force Behind The Force
cheers all,
bit hard to train when i am in quarenteen much like one of the coachs and our manager because my school got shut down with swine flu![]()
I don't know much about schoolboy Rugby in WA. How strong is this squad. Will it win the upcoming champs. And why is WA only in the second div.
because to be eligble in this 18's championship you must be at school and seeing as the majority of West Aussies finish school at age 17 the team has a majority of 17 year olds. The exceptions such as saffas or the kids at cyril jackson 'redoing' there tee. In order to play you must be doing secondary education. This is why we are in Divi 2 and usually they pick a combined schools side so best of divi 2 to play in divi 1 but this year combines arent allowed to play with fear of swine flu.
May be a new unifying nickname for the Combined States XV, "The Pigs"...

It just goes to show how stupid they are. How many people exactly have died from swine flu? Its a bloody flu its not the end of the world. Its going to spread one way or the other so why not just let it run its course now rather than pissing about for the next 6 months and getting nowhere.
Congratulations BTW.![]()
Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast.
Well done Pruc....and all the other players
