Sharpe in doubt for France Test
July 03, 2008
AUSTRALIA lock Nathan Sharpe is in doubt for Saturday night's Test match against France at Suncorp Stadium after injuring his groin at training on Thursday morning.
Australia A forward Hugh McMeniman has been called into the Wallabies squad as cover for Sharpe who strained his groin while running at Ballymore.
NSW lock Dean Mumm would move from the bench into the second row if Sharpe was ruled out, with a decision on his fitness expected to be made Thursday night or Friday morning.
Sharpe has been in good form in the opening two Tests of the season with he and second row partner James Horwill laying down a challenge for forward leader Dan Vickerman when he returns from ankle surgery.
NOT the happy news I needed to brighten my day!
poor sharpie. good opportunity for Mumm. Hurry up Vickerman!
Be There. Be Heard. Be The Force Behind The Force
i didnt think sharpe had played all that well. im not convinced that without vicks we can field a good second row out of any of the leftover players!
Sharpe hasnt really stepped up at all over the last few years when he has needed to, he is a solid player with alotta size but he really needs to shoe another side to his game if he is going to stay int he side!
deans seems to be wanting a more offloading ball playing forward pack and besides lineout time i dont think sharpe offers much around the paddock!
fishy fishy fishy
not enough bait fellas...
I think the John Eales Medalist can defend himself on this one.
"Bloody oath we did!"
Nathan Sharpe, Legend.
Too right Burgs.
Bugger to see him injured though. These tests were a good opportunity to start bedding down the combination with Horwill for the post-Vickerman period.
yeah. hopefully he pulls up well and can take his spot.
c'mon sharpie!
maybe he will rested so we have one of our best ready for the real tests??
