It has been discussed before but can anyone give me an honest reason why the hell certain media insist on naming Rugby UNION teams from 15-1 rather than 1-15 as is the official convention????
Apart from displaying their own ignorance it makes it so much harder to "read" the team when it is constantly in different formats.
It is starting to truly shit me and I'm sure it will only escalate as the fringe reports come into the fold for the World Cup
And while I'm up here, when is the last time you have noticed a Rugby Union Captain wear an arm band....dolts![]()

I hear you, backwards lists annoy the crap out of me. Even worse when they then list the bench in correct order.
same for the cricket. wickets first or runs first. make it universal!
Crazy thing is B&B it already is at the admin level with Rugby through the IRB and how they report Squads.
About ten years go it started sneaking in.
At the lack of any ideas as to why, the only thing I can think of is it is either from a cross over of journos between the codes or from a marketing ideal in some countries that the glamour players are the Wings, 5/8s and Centres?
Perhaps we should name the team this way to keep the sponsors happy:
Sponsors XV:
11.
14.
10.
7.
22.
12.
13.
15.
21.
9.
20.
6.
8.
19.
4.
5.
18.
2.
16.
1.
3.
17.

Dear Lord, if you give us back Johnny Cash, we'll give you Justin Bieber.
Yeah, me too.
I think that is probably why I came near popping a blood vessel a couple of hours ago![]()

its wierd i would like to know why theyre starting at 15. in league i think they start at fullback (1). so maybe it is just the over-east journalists starting at fullback for union (15) as well.
Runs first. Simple. x runs for x players out. Tis the only way it makes sense. IMHO!Originally Posted by blueandblack
Totally agree with you all about the rugby naming order - I've always thought it bizarre when they do the backs first.
Keeping the Faith ... right here in Perth!
It's one of life's conundrums.

Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.
i think its good. in afl they name the teams in there positions so u can gather where they are playing on the field. starting with the back three and finishing with the front row, same as they would line up on a rugby field..
In AFL the number they wear relates to their locker number. It's so they don't forget where they left their clothes.
