Leopards don't change their spots. I suppose the Shute Shield president not being from Sydney Uni is something to cling on to.

Rugby Australia has taken the first tentative step towards repairing relations with the game's grass roots by nominating a Shute Shield president to fill one of three vacant board seats.
The nominations committee has put forward Gordon president Hayden Rorke and Australian Rugby Foundation chairman John Wilson. Raelene Castle, as recently-appointed RA chief executive, will take the third seat, replacing her predecessor Bill Pulver. RA members will vote on the nominations at the next AGM on April 9.
Rorke's nomination is a clear attempt to bring club rugby in Brisbane and Sydney back into the fold after a damaging period under Pulver, during which time the Sydney presidents, in particular, were in open mutiny against head office.
The current board last year survived a grassroots push to vote out all directors, when the Sydney club identities behind the campaign failed to attract wider support. The appointment of Castle, a New Zealand sports administrator with experience in rugby league and netball, was seen as the circuit breaker in that instance.
It is also tangible evidence that RA intends to honour a commitment made last year when it announced Australia would lose a Super Rugby team.
Proven liar Chairman Cameron de Clyne said at the time that propping up five teams was preventing RA from adequately funding grassroots rugby. He said the governing body would use the roughly $6 million a year saved from funding one less team to plough into the grass roots and coach and player development (don't you mean the incremental payments to the Rabble).
"Over the years we have not had concrete solutions on how you get more money in," de Clyne said in April. "It is said we are not doing enough for grassroots, well this is a decision we have made today to put money into grassroots (yeah right)."
Whether the appointments will be enough to placate RA's critics in club land remains to be seen. Rorke is seen as a middle ground between RA and the most vociferous of those voices, such as Eastwood's Brett Papworth and Randwick's Simon Poidevin and Bob Dwyer.
Rorke owns Belrose paper company South Pacific Paper and has been president of Gordon for the past three years and on the board for six years in total.
Wilson has been chair of the ARF, the philanthropic arm of RA, for three years. Before that he developed RA's strategy for women's rugby. He is a senior advisor at Goldman Sachs Asset Management and sits on the board of LGIA Super in Brisbane. He is a former director of Melbourne Stadiums Ltd, the owner and operator of Eithad Stadium, and has three decades' experience in investment management.
The nominations, if approved, will bring the RA board back up to full strength after the departures of Geoff Stooke and Liz Broderick. John Eales, Brett Robinson, de Clyne, Pip Marlow, Ann Sherry and Paul McLean remain as directors.

Just more BS media spin from RA & their little pack of paid ‘journos’ trotting out more sycophantic crap for the week, who do they think they’re kidding? Maybe it’s to try & distract everyone from their latest Hunt fiasco - what a joke & slap in the face to rugby fans that is! Thank God we’re outta that crappola.
BTW didn’t really feel much sympathy for the Force Rebs.
Clever, replace the only voice of sanity with a Sydney club rugby sycophant and replace a useless waste of space with a pro Melbourne vote. Way to answer the accusations of bias wankers.
Ps I'm with Val. Not feeling guilty about the money vacuum getting thrashed, only disappointment was that it was the tahs that won the lottery. It would have been perfect for it to be the next team out the door (brumbies)

If you all honestly believe that Sydney Club Rugby. Especially the Shute Shield clubs like/love/or are on the same page as RA you are, as our old friend RexMessup would say, DeadSet Kidding yourselves.
Shute Shield got on free to air TV by doing the deal themselves. Had nothing to do with NSWRU or RA.
RA dont give money to Shute Shield. NSWRU doesnt give money to Shute Shield.
Subbies Rugby in a meeting 3 weeks ago had a failed attempt to leave NSWRU.

"Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now if you know what you’re worth then go out and get what you’re worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you! You’re better than that!" - Rocky Balboa
"He is a former director of Melbourne Stadiums Ltd (Victoria), the owner and operator of Eithad Stadium(Victoria), and has three decades' experience in investment management.(ah the Unicorn the old Victorian sponsorship dollars just looking for rugby to promote coz Vics have nothing else especially what they think they own goin on in winter)"

So you're trying to tell me that a Victorian investment banker who has just been appointed to one of the most difficult boards in Australia to be nominated FOR and that is absolutely ruled by an investment banker who played rugby for Victoria and has destroyed the organisation including driving it to bankruptcy is not connected and nothing to worry about?
You really ARE glass half-full aren't you?

Not happy with these appointments one IOTA. Lack of transparency and fearful of getting opposing voices on the board. The old saying, " If 6 people continually agree on a course of action then 5 are redundant."
Sadly RA will never grow until they bring about robust, fact filled debate. At the very least they should have a voice on the board from either SA, Tas, NT and/or WA. Having Super Rugby centric people, irrespective of whether they came from club rugby or not is not representative of the Australian Community.
Leave the RA to their own devices, they’re successfully disappearing up their own arses. Clyne attempting to manoeuvre for someone to be there supporting himself where everyone hates his guts. Any bets on another dirty deal with paper bags going on? I wish ASIC would get the report out.
