Cruden happy to be "managed" into Super rugby

    11/02/2010 6:24:02

Young Hurricanes pivot Aaron Cruden will not be rushed into battle with the Blues in the opening match of the Super 14 in Albany tomorrow night.

While many have hyped Cruden to be the young star that takes the Canes to their first title, the man himself is happy to be "managed" into his rookie season.

Cruden will start off the bench tomorrow night and says at the moment he is happy to sponge information and experience off the older guys in the team, before he gets his chance to start. He says incumbent number ten Willie Ripia has been helping him adjust to the Hurricanes environment and the competition for the starting role is a healthy one.

Ripia agrees with his gifted understudy. He says competition for a starting role brings the best out in all players because if you do not perform you get dropped.

The opening match of 2010 is a repeat of the opener to Super Rugby fifteen years ago.
