It hasn't. They had a crappy afl stadia back then too. One of them has been improved out of sight simply with the addition of 4 corners and a couple of new grandstands.

We arrived in Australia the year before that film was made....

The old man was a fitter and turner working on the oil refinery construction.

I remember Perth and environs just as depicted.

God that made me feel old.

and here I was thinking my dad was old because he was born 2 years after they made that film!!!

That's fantastic Ecky - thanks for posting :-) How times have changed - imagine felling trees like that these days; or having bus conductors put your pram onto the pavement for you after unhooking it off the back of the bus!

Thanks for the linl Ecky, I seem to remember a lot of that film. The bus and ferry as well a sHay St being a through road. The beauty of history.

I remember the prams hanging on the back of the bus - that didn't stop that long ago!

The view from Kings Park was a lot better then.
Amazing how some historical pieces remind me that spinning the truth is not a recent development. No mention that it can be a hot dry bastard of place, just lovely scenes in spring time.
