Is it just me or kids getting faster and faster and stronger and stronger when you compare to previous generations?

Amazing to be able to run times like he can at that age be interesting to see how he would go in the 15 man game see if his vision is as good as his speed

Rugby should target these kids early. He obviously has speed genetics and another sport will grab him if rugby doesn't .

I wonder if he would be better actually sticking with athletics?

I think if he is that fast and has the hall marks to be a top runner he could make more money in athletics

I've been playing seniors basketball since I was about 17 (about 18 yrs ago). There have always been teams of 18-20yr old kids that come and go in between footy seasons and occasionaly there'd be the kid that had obviously been to the gym and was pumped up. There would be one or two guys per league back then and often none at all that looked 'ripped'.
I'd say the past 5 years or so it has increased markedly to the point where half our league would consist of teams of young kids 18-25 who all look like they walked straight out of a bodybuilding session.

It's a cultural/generational thing I think. You only need to go to one of these summer music festivals to see all the gym work that is going on. It is now accepted and encouraged for kids to be doing day after day in the gym.
It definitely didn't happen in my day, and I was on a specialised basketball scholarship in my high school days too but we just did gym sessions once or twice a week, nothing like what it seems todays kids are doing...

The good thing is my team is now a bunch of aging (and expanding) 35-37yr old guys, and granted we can all play a bit, but these guys spend so much time working on their biceps, triceps and straight line speed, they lose the fine motor control needed for dribbling and shooting the basketball, so we pretty much end up being the old fat guys who run slower, but shoot and pass better and end up beating the speedy young 'schwarzenneger looking' punks. Gets even better when they get engry and start pushing us around!
