I went past this place on Saturday for the first time and it looks awsome for a smallish rectangular ground. Apparently it was funded by Sydney high flyer John Singleton who also owns the Bluetongue Brewey further up the coast. It's jammed on a small site between a railway station, overpass bridge, city and river. Two big stands on either side and smallish one at one end with the other end open to the river. It would be interesting to see how it came about and at what cost. It was used as home to the Stingrays during the 2007 ARC.

I have been at this stadium twice - first time in 2000 for Australia A v British and Irish Lions. The other was for the Stingrays v Perth Spirit. This is a great little stadium and we could do a lot worse then having a stadium based on this design.

"Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now if you know what you’re worth then go out and get what you’re worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you! You’re better than that!" - Rocky Balboa

A little info, no redevelopment costs though...
it looks nice.
if the need came to expand, they could easily redevelop the seats at the end of the ground - while still playing games there; and build seats in the corners or something.
Were you sitting on the sideline or the end TIF?

They are updating the Manly Sea-Eagles home ground, Brookvale, to about 30k apparently, thier planning job is absolutely shite but could be a decent enough example to go by....I think they are building a new stand, developing the corner of the ground where I assume corporate facilities are and in front of the stands are grassed areas which seem to be risen above the pitch a little.

According to a few links I have seen the redevelopment costs $20 millions dollars. So to apply it to MES as we have a more complete stadium then Brookdale as a whole all we would have to do is redevelop the stands and add corporate facilities, the concrete portion of the ground can stay, and support a 'Kop like' atmosphere where all the loudest and truely crazy fans are, they'll be the cheapest seats and put the Blue crew there at first but as we reach capacity phase it out so that it can be used as a place to sell out on the cheap to dedicated and passionate supporters....
I don't see as Brookvale oval is adding a new stand, updating thier current stand it seems and adding more seats to the current stands that MES, with a bit more of an injection to make it a class act, would be much more costly, chicken feed compared to the MPS.
I went to Bluetongue for the Tahs v Ponies trial match this year. Took a few pics. As you can see, you can get quite close to the play. Open at one end as you will notice. I
Bluetongue beer not too bad and straight out the main gates, cross a small road and you can walk right into the Leagues club! Convenient.
First pic is of from the Leagues Club side as you walk into the ground and go up some stairs.
This one is from the opposite side looking back to the corner I took the first pic from.
These ones are basically from where I was sitting, 2nd Tier up about on the halfway mark. Bar was not too far away either.

Can't see your pictures chook - would be nice look at what type of a mess you get yourself into at a game of footy!
I like Bluetongue from what i've seen - when and where do we build a replica of it in Perth?
