    Rathbone released from Brumbies

    Posted Sat May 23, 2009 12:43pm AEST

Brumbies player Clyde Rathbone has been released from the club.

Rathbone has had a number of injuries this year, but played in last week's loss against the Chiefs.

Coach Andy Friends says Rathbone will not have his contract renewed next year.

"We had a meeting with Clyde yesterday and just informed him that there wouldn't be a contract offer for him next year," he said.

"He was very professional about the whole thing and he's looking forward to life without the Brumbies next year."

Do you mean poaching under 21 south african reps to play for Australia?

    Cheap shot.....

He was very happy to become an Australian and his family later moved to Canberra also... He was entitled to move here with family heritage... He has been an outstanding example in the Brumbies squad...

I can see him coming here. He can join Camerona and Pat O'Connor with the MBF crew! But don't his parents live here, and aren't we looking for an outside back? He's very injury prone yes but I can see it happening...

A kick in this game is like a rather nasty alcoholic shooter, only as good as it's chaser...

Clyde while out injured over the past few years established a corporate health business in Canberra with his wife, Carrie. He may chose to continue to develop his business there...

An example in what positions in the stands are good and which that aren't?

An example in which of the physio's in Canberra are good?

Seen an interview with him a couple of months ago and in the interview he said that this would be the likely outcome if he got injured again this season. So he knew it was coming.

A great player for Australia and it is just sad that he was so unfortunately clouded in injury.

No Ox. He is an example of an incredibly talented player who poured his heart and soul into the game and playing for his club and this country. The talent and dedication he has shown over the years is something that should be commended and strived for by all players regardless of where he comes from. He deserves our respect and our thanks.

Poor old Clyde. He's been put out to pasture.

    Better than the knackery though

Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.
