Christchurch - Richie McCaw returned to Super 14 rugby as a second-half replacement for the Crusaders as they beat the Sharks in Christchurch on Friday.

The Crusaders won 35-6 after leading 10-6 at half-time.

The All Blacks captain missed the first two rounds while on extended leave, but returned to give the Crusaders a boost after a second-round loss to the Reds.

The Durban-based Sharks lost Springbok captain John Smit twice to the blood bin before he was finally forced from the field with a head cut after 69 minutes.

Zac Guildford scored two tries for the Crusaders while replacements Adam Whitelock and Quentin McDonald added tries in a bonus-point win.

Flyhalf Daniel Carter kicked three conversions and three penalties for 15 points.

    Scorers:

    Crusaders:
Tries: Zac Guildford (2), Adam Whitelock, Quentin MacDonald
    Conversions: Daniel Carter (3)
    Penalties: Carter (3)

    Sharks:
    Penalties: Rory Kockott (2)

phew just made sure I'd got him off the bench

wow they really did run away with it...game was on in reception at RWA this arvo... was around 70min mark when I was there, and while the Saders were already winning comfortably, looks like they squeezed another couple of tries in before full time.
