    Montgomery dropped for Wallabies clash

Veteran full-back Percy Montgomery has been axed from the South Africa team for this weekend's Tri-Nations match against Australia in Durban.

The 34-year-old, who last week earned his 100th Test cap for South Africa, has been replaced by Conrad Jantjes.

South Africa lost 19-0 to New Zealand in Cape Town last Saturday, all but ending its challenge in this year's competition.

In the only other change to the starting team that lost last weekend, Central Cheetahs winger Jongi Nokwe replaces the injured Bryan Habana on the left wing.

Nokwe made his Test debut against Argentina 10 days ago, scoring one of nine Bok tries.

The other newcomer in the side which played last weekend is Joe van Niekerk, who fills a place on the replacements bench.

Van Niekerk is one of two loose forward replacements, with the other being specialist openside flank Luke Watson.

South Africa, who experienced major problems at the breakdowns against an inspired All Blacks skipper Richie McCaw in Cape Town, are expecting another tough outing at the rucks where they are likely to face George Smith, Phil Waugh and possibly fit-again Rocky Elsom.

The All Blacks top the competition table with 14 points from five matches, followed by Australia with nine points from three matches.

South Africa has just five points from four matches.

South Africa faces the Wallabies again next weekend in Johannesburg before returning home to complete its fixture list against New Zealand in Brisbane.

    Springboks:

Conrad Jantjes; JP Pietersen, Adrian Jacobs, Jean de Villiers, Jongi Nokwe; Butch James, Fourie du Preez; Pierre Spies, Juan Smith, Schalk Burger; Victor Matfield (c), Andries Bekker, CJ van der Linde, Bismarck du Plessis, Tendai Mtawarira.

Replacements: Adriaan Strauss, Brian Mujati, Joe van Niekerk, Luke Watson, Ricky Januarie, Frans Steyn, Percy Montgomery

    BOKKE
“Let me put it this way, A Springbok team contains Afrikaners, Englishmen, coloureds and blacks. It has parochial foes in Bulls, Sharks, Stormers, Cheetahs and Lions. It is a recipe for war! Yet in all the years of John Smit’s captaincy, there has never been one unhappy customer, not one voice of rebellion against his leadership. He is the glue that holds the Springboks together. The man is a legend!”- Jake White

    a sarcastic one?
    but on a serious note.
was conrad selected because of the racial policy to make a statement?

something along the lines of putting 'equality' before high profile players??

Or was Percy merely selected in the run on side because it was Test 100??

Skin colour shouldnt matter. The fact that Percy has been dropped back to bench doesnt help the notion that he was only picked in the run on side because it was test 100. We even have a saffer supporter saying that Jantjes is better at the moment. Pick your best 15 to start, dont base it on either race or sentiment because their both stupid
