Chiefs' Anesi suffers neck fracture
Saturday Feb 10 12:03 AEDT
Chiefs winger and fullback Sosene Anesi suffered a neck fracture in last night's match against the Hurricanes at Waikato Stadium in Hamilton.
A CT scan revealed a fracture to the C6 and C7 vertebrae in Anesi's neck, a spokeswoman said.
He is currently in a stable condition at Waikato Hospital and is not suffering any paralysis.
Anesi will not travel to South Africa with the Chiefs on Saturday. He has been replaced by winger Anthony Tahana.
The Hurricanes won the match 39-32, after Paul Tito scored a try in the dying moments of the game.
"Bloody oath we did!"
Nathan Sharpe, Legend.
Wonder how long he will be out, sounds pretty serious,
and i know it isn't relevant, but he is a winger and has received a neck injury, not a prop forward as the new scrum laws are aimed at preventing neck injuries, so it just goes to show that accidents can occur anywhere on the field, not just the engine room....Will they bring more cotton wool in the future to prevent this, i hope not, but nowadays everyone has to be protected from everything, for thier own good, no one should ever get hurt or injured in todays society, we should be aiming for zero accidents, etc etc etc, BULLSH*T, accidents have, and always will happen, no matter how much we sterilise things, so leave well enough alone and let fate deal the hand it offers you, not some nanny state.....
geez, that was a tangent and a half, but feels good to rant a little ...
Proudly bought to you by a brewery somewhere....
The Chiefs have had a pretty bad run with injury's this year a real shame to as Waikato had grat form comming off the NPC and looked like they may have been the good this year.
Worse news though for the Brumbies hooker Palavi real shame.
