Perth Gold has continued its winning streak, posting another victory on its tour of the eastern states.
Gold defeated the Illawarriors in Wollongong 45-0, with Joe Egan and Harry Cogin each bagging a brace of tries. Kyle Edwards, Matt Dreyer, and Sam Parker also posted five-pointers, with Dreyer kicking five conversions.
The win follows the 26-10 triumph over the Melbourne Axemen in Melbourne last Wednesday, the opening game of the tour.
The Victorians are the holders of the Australian Rugby Shield, the competition from which Perth Gold was dropped after the arrival of the Emirates Western Force in Perth.
Captain Sean Ashton and Leon Felton were the try scorers.
After the Melbourne game, coach Willie Van Dyk said: "It took the side a while to get the feel of playing together but once they did, we dominated the game. There are areas where we can and will improve as we move through the tour."
Openside flanker Thomas Ratahi was named man-of-the-match.
Perth Gold will play a Brumbies President’s XV on Wednesday, in what is expected to be the toughest match of the tour.

In competition they say a win is a win however it would seem that we shouldn't read too much into this result as a stand alone trial.
I contacted the Illawarriors before the weekend to see if they may have had team lists or a match report for me to post, here is the reply:
...unfortunately, I cannot give you names of the players from either side. I didn’t even have the names of our guys. There were only half a dozen senior players and 3 of the under 19s and the forwards coach from the Illawarriors squad. The boys over here had to play on Saturday due to catch up caused by rain so with injuries and guys away for the holidays they could only just scratch a team together. They were getting guys out of the crowd to play and actually borrowed a couple of your guys.
It was still played in the right spirit. Your guys scored lots of tries and there were a couple of guys that looked like they had the potential. I hope they got something out of it...
"Bloody oath we did!"

did our guys score the tries for us or them???
