No stadium = no soccer for Perth

Any coincidence that Perth didn't get a game because we don't have an adequate stadium? Thanks government, good work on developing the state!

Sydney and Melbourne win soccer World Cup qualifiers
    October 13, 2008 09:35am

SYDNEY and Melbourne will host the Socceroos' remaining 2010 World Cup home qualifying matches, the FFA have announced.

Australia's game against fellow Group A favourite Japan will be played at the MCG while Sydney will host the Socceroos' matches against Uzbekistan on April 1, and Bahrain on June 10, though which stadiums will be used has not been decided.

The re-match of Australia's 2006 World Cup finals showdown with Japan will be played on June 17 at the MCG.

"This is the final match for the Socceroos in round four of the 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, and the one that could determine whether we qualify directly for the World Cup or not,'' Football Federation Australia chief executive Ben Buckley said.

No stadium = no soccer = no sh!t.

No balls + no clue = no stadium.

    (Government / self-interest)*number of marginal seats = stupefaction+stupidity

    ... etc...

(BTW, congrats to Sydney and Melbourne!)

A re-interpretation of Dilberts Salary Theorum

We know that Power = Work/Time
    Knowledge is Power.
    Time is Money.
    Therefore Knowledge = Work/Money

Given the work involved to build a stadium is constant, higher costs can only occur as knowledge decreases proving the government don't know shit.

Even if Perth had an adequte stadium, they wouldn't have been in the running for the game against Japan. Maybe one of the smaller piss weak nations but the Japan game was always going to Melbourne or Sydney.

At least i know where to bopok my airfares to go and watch

Hopefully Australia will have booked their passage through to South Africa by before then anyway

Anything is better than nothing - a small game maybe 25,000 people would be better than the nothing we are getting now - think of the tourism dollars the lost opportunity to pay off the stadium - did you know that in Dublin with the redevelopment of Landsdowne road the GAA has effectively paid off it's GAA rectangular stadium in 10 years less than expected.

Give the people the right stuff and they come

I would love a game here in Perth, but unfortunately we have f**k all when it comes to facilities in this state
