NEW Emirates Western Force captain David Pocock is in the crosshairs.
He is sure to be a target of Super Rugby rivals, who will be out to nullify the openside flanker's explosive influence at the breakdown this season, while also trying to influence referees to blow him out of the contest.

Interesting article this.
During the RWC11, it was evident that the match officials basically gave carte blanch to any payer with #7 on his back. And in France's case #6.
This was my biggest bugbear about the officiating in that tournament, because when the back rowers got penalised in domestic/suburban rugby, they'd be entitled to be confused as they'd just been watching the pinnacle of the sport being officiated differently to what the laws say.
So, hopefully this puts all of youse players and spectators on notice that there is a gate and there is the concept of "hindmost foot" and it would appear that us officials are entitled to police these laws as per the law book, as opposed to as per the RWC.
Nothing like a good reason to blow your whistle all afternoon Ecky
It keeps the fans coming back
Controversy corner
David Pocock will overcome attention
"Bloody oath we did!"

They should police the tackler roll away law more harshly as thats what causes most of the slowing down of rucks.
My biggest greif is the protection given to players heads. to many time we see players being wraped around the neck and man handled and what do the refs do...nothing!
“Everyone knows whether it’s rugby, politics or whatever, front-rowers should rule the world, so to have a hooker at the helm makes sense,” Nathan Charles Western Force & Wallabies Hooker.
Yeah. And make it an instant yellow card offence within 5 metres out from the try line.
Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast.
